I then tried to calm down the crying girls. I told them we needed to call the police and report the incident. But the girls were surprisingly reluctant.... They said they were on probation and didn't want to involve the cops. hmmm. I asked them if the people in the car maybe thought they were doing something wrong. Oh no, that couldn't be the case, because they were just walking along not doing anything. So I ask them if I called the police and kept their names out of the report if that would be okay. They hesitently agreed.
So I call the police and tell them what happened. I start describing the vehicle and then the operater starts asking me for a detailed description of the girls. Not of the car. hmmm.... A police car drives by. The girls FREAK and start trying to escape out the back door. It takes them a couple minutes to figure out that we have a large piece of wood blocking the door. heh heh. then they run out the back and jump over the fence.
As this is happening I am giving a play by play to the operator of where they are going. The run through the neighbors yard Then they are nabbed by the police and put out on the curb in handcuffs.
I later see a policeman going through our front yard, so I went out there and tell him where the girls went. He goes to where I directed him and finds cell phones and wallets that the girls had ditched.
Apparently the car following them had seen these girls stealing stuff from the girls locker room at Alta High and were following them taking pictures and my description to the police led them right to the culprits and the stolen property.
Brett thinks I should be a detective.

Way to go! I felt so bad for them at the beginning of that story...I hope they learned their lesson.
